An Eight-day journey of a lifetime to the Holy Land

Led by Andy Paget

Thursday 16th - Thursday 23rd November 2017

To walk in the footsteps of Abraham and David, Jesus and Paul is uniquely rewarding. Join me for this life-transforming experience as we visit many of the best-loved sites, but also out-of-the-way places seldom included in an eight-day itinerary.

As we walk among the ancient stones, we’ll have opportunities to meet some of the ‘living stones’, local believers living and working in the land today.

It is possible to extend your visit by an additional 3 or 5 nights half-board.

~ Andy Paget, Tour Leader

Andy pastors an inner city church in Bristol. He is an experienced tour leader who has made many visits to the Holy Land and has close friends on both sides of the Arab-Israeli divide.

Day 1
London / Tel Aviv

We depart from Luton airport on our flight to Tel Aviv. On arrival we will be met and transferred to our hotel in Bethlehem for dinner and overnight.

Day 2
Mount of Olives / Yad Vashem / Bethlehem

We drive from Bethlehem to the top of the Mount of Olives, the place of Jesus’ ascension, to admire the spectacular views of the Old City of Jerusalem and the City of David. We walk down the Palm Sunday Road to Dominus Flevit, recalling how Jesus wept over the city, and continue to the Garden of Gethsemane. In the afternoon we visit Yad Vashem, the Holocaust Memorial, before returning to Bethlehem to visit the Shepherds’ Fields and the Church of the Nativity.
Dinner and overnight in Bethlehem.

Day 3
Old City / Western Wall / Mount Zion

This morning we enter the Old City of Jerusalem, beginning our tour at the Pool of Bethesda and the Church of St. Anne. We continue to the site of the Antonia Fortress, where Jesus was tried by Pilate, and then to the Jewish Quarter and the Western (Wailing) Wall. In the afternoon we visit Mount Zion and the Upper Room and the Church of St. Peter in Gallicantu, built over the site of the house of the High Priest Caiaphas and the dungeon where Jesus may have been imprisoned during his Jewish trials. Here Peter denied knowing Jesus.
Dinner and overnight in Bethlehem.

Day 4
Masada / Qumran / Dead Sea

Today we visit Herod’s hilltop fortress of Masada, ascending and descending by cable car, and continue to Qumran where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered by a shepherd boy. There will be an opportunity to swim or float in the Dead Sea before returning to Bethlehem for dinner and overnight.

Day 5
Garden Tomb / Jericho / Galilee

We visit the Garden Tomb before leaving Jerusalem for Jericho, to see the ancient city and the Mount of Temptation. We travel north along the Jordan Valley to the baptismal site at Yardenit and then to our hotel in Tiberias for dinner and overnight.

Day 6
Sea of Galilee / Gamla / Mount of Beatitudes

This morning we take a memorable boat trip on the Sea of Galilee, stopping for a time of worship on the lake. We drive to Gamla, the Zealot command post in the Galilee during the Jewish Revolt, and then to the wilderness area of Bethsaida. After lunch we visit the Mount of Beatitudes, a natural amphitheatre and possibly the site of Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount. Dinner and overnight in Tiberias.

Day 7
Nazareth / Capernaum / Tabgha

Today we drive to Nazareth, the town of Jesus’ childhood, to visit the outstanding Nazareth Village, depicting life in the times of Jesus, and the Mount of Precipitation with its magnificent panorama of the Jezreel Valley. On to Capernaum, Jesus’ “home town”, Tabgha and the Church of the Primacy of St. Peter, commemorating Jesus’ feeding of the 5,000 and his resurrection appearance by the lake. Return to Tiberias for dinner and overnight.

Day 8
Jezreel Valley / Caesarea / Journey Home

We leave Galilee and travel via Mount Carmel and the Jezreel Valley to Caesarea to see the Roman aqueduct and amphitheatre en route to Ben Gurion Airport for our return flight to Luton.

Therefore, if you check-in immediately after a night flight this would normally count as one night’s accommodation. Day rooms are subject to availability/cost and should be arranged locally with the accommodation management.
