Embrace the Middle East is the UK’s leading development charity tackling poverty and injustice in the Middle East, specifically in Lebanon, Syria, Israel, Palestine and Egypt. We work through local Christian partners who work with all those in need irrespective of faith, nationality or political affiliation, to provide education, healthcare and community development.
Embrace has been organising Encounter Tours to the region for many years. We have built up a wealth of experience in helping people to experience the land where Jesus walked, both the historical sites and encountering the ‘living stones’ the Christian communities that live and work in this beautiful but troubled land.
This Encounter Tour will give you the opportunity to spend time in Bethlehem, tour the main historical sites in Jerusalem, meet amazing people doing amazing things in Christ’s name, experience the still small voice of Lake Galilee and see the incredible Roman sites of Zippori and Caesarea.
There will be time for reflection and worship and an Embrace member of staff will be there to answer any questions you may have. We will benefit from the services of a fully qualified guide who will not only share their expertise but will ensure that the whole trip runs smoothly.
We look forward to journeying with you.
We fly from Manchester to Tel Aviv and transfer to Bethlehem for our introductory talk and evening in our hotel.
We visit the Church of the Nativity and have some time to explore Manger Square and its surrounding streets, followed by time in the Shepherd’s Fields. We’ll have dinner in our hotel and then meet a local family who will tell us what it’s actually like to live in Bethlehem.
We visit the Separation Barrier and some of the people affected by it. We’ll then travel to the Negev where you will be able to choose between visiting the Dead Sea or the Masada Fortress. We’ll then travel to Jericho for lunch and a visit to the Palestinian Bible Society before returning to Bethlehem via Qumran.

After a good lunch break we return to the Old City where you can choose to use the time for shopping in the souk or you might want to traverse the City Walls on the Ramparts Walk (at extra cost). We return to our hotel where after dinner there will be the chance to reflect on the morning’s visit before our evening devotions.
We’ll have a slower start today before joining a local congregation for Sunday worship. The standard international practice is to let rooms from midday to midday. However times do vary. Check-in times are usually between 2pm and 3pm, check-out times between 11am and 12 noon on the day of departure. Therefore, if you check-in immediately after a night flight this would normally count as one night’s accommodation. Similarly if your return flight is at night you will normally be required to vacate your room at 12 noon prior to leaving for the airport. Day rooms are subject to availability/cost and should be arranged locally with the accommodation management.
