Visiting the Holy Land is always a special experience. We see places already known to us through our Bible reading eg Jerusalem, Jericho, Galilee and Capernaum; and also significant sites such as Herodion, Masada and Qumran.
The combination of three world faiths, history, geography and politics provides an interesting background to our own Christian faith and worship.
Alan Munden, who lives in Newcastle upon Tyne, is a member of Jesmond Parish Church. He has been to Israel on a number of occasions and is particularly interested in biblical archaeology and the history of Protestant mission.
